Our curriculum is arranged in blocks.  The blocks within and outside of a subject area are interrelated, but can very well stand alone.  This kind of flexibility allows families to use a particular grade in its entirety, or to supplement another approach with a block or two from Sonnet.  Larger families, like ours, can arrange their blocks to make the most of subject matter for children in a range of grade levels allowing older and younger siblings to be working on a particular topic or project type at the same time.

Because our blocks are only 3-4 weeks in duration, families can schedule breaks more easily to suit whatever life brings their way – new babies, holidays, vacations.  Blocks may also be easily scheduled to coincide with cultural events and special exhibits at local museums allowing you to take advantage of the freshness and excitement of the subject matter and enriching their learning experience.

Our stand-alone unit studies provide another opportunity for families to supplement the core Sonnet curriculum, or any other curriculum during the traditional school year, or over the summer months.  In addition, Raven and Dove activities as well as our Young Ambassador lesson plans will offer families the benefit of enriching their child’s learning whether or not they home educate him or her.

and our Chore System, which was developed for our own children and based upon the workings of a Benedictine Monastery.
